Terminal Expansion Project
The Curaçao International Airport expansion and renovation project is initiated to increase the airports capacity from 1.6 million to 2.5 million passengers per year. The project consists of a large extension of the existing departure hall, arrival facilities, additional baggage claim belt, additional passenger boarding bridge, extension of security checks, immigration facilities, support functions, concession spaces, etc. at Curacao International Airport.
For the Project Management and supervision, an intensive and successful cooperation has been started with IMD, led by Mike Koch. IMD providing day-to-day supervision, financial administration, and secretarial support, while ICM provides management and coordination with stakeholders within the airport.
"The complex project within a fully operational airport, was completed within construction time and within budget"
The design was provided by Corgan, Dallas (USA) and features a modern expression in facade and materialization. The design has further mainly focused on improving comfort for the traveler and improving passenger flows within the building.
As a result of this improvement, passenger flows were adapted and improved precisely at the heart of the airport while being in use, which required incredibly good preparation and organization. The entire project was carried out in a fully operational airport without disrupting transport flows, while retaining all security requirements and with minimal inconvenience for users of the airport.
